THE FANTASIZED LIFE.

 MY LIFE AT TUM

I anticipated life on my own, to be paradise. Living free of my  parent's reign, Moving into hostel Life without curfews and many "house" rules as I describe them while at my parent's home.

My stay at The Technical University of Mombasa or Tum as famously known was Categorised with alot of Freedom i would choose what course to do, whether to attend classes or not,the type of people you wanna hang out with, my own meal, whether to go to “kesha” or “dunda” on Friday nights. In short, my life at Tum  had alot of choices.

Being at the University Most of the time I would either be broke or my budget would be  so tight and getting tighter by every shilling spent. So, let frugality be your friend, no one cares the brand of phone you are using all they want is for you to reply their texts in a timely manner.I decided to invent ways of Increasiing my revenues so that i would prevent my self from becoming broke at campus.

I saw my fellow Comrades working out on side hustles like working on M-pesa stalls, waiting cafes and hawking clothes and shoes around  University Premises . They earned peanuts for wages, and the little money they made they have probably used it  on their own expenses. They influenced me to start perfume Bussiness as a side hustle So that i could sustain my life and meet my needs.

When i was a first years It was very hard for me to adapt to the university lifestyle. I anticipated life in the hostels to be amazing Little did  I know that Living in the hostels is the biggest challenge for most Fresh year  students in transition from home to University  life not to mention the cost  of living that is incurred. The living conditions, roommates' situations, and campus life are most of the difficulties one might face as a freshman in the hostels.

Since there are were many students that live in the Hostels  throughout the year, the University could not  afford to make each hostel  into a BMB.The hostels were very Hot .The scrorching Sun of Mombasa   made  it  very hard for student during the  hot days of the year.

I could vividly see my fellow comrades Sweating after crossing the Famous Nyali Bridge to attend Lectures due to high temperatures which are normanlly experienced in Mombasa throughout the year.I myself lived in a non-air-conditioned hostel in  my and it was so hot in the room that I  would want to take cold showers just so you wouldn't have to break a sweat when you got back to the room, it was a very uncomfortable situation.

Academically whenever i wanted to do research on my assignments given my our lecturers  i would always find a perfect spot to do my work. The TUM Library which has vast of academic resources was always very helpful to me not forgetting Wikepaedia.

I diregarded the Common phrase in Campus “degree ni harambee” it means you are supposed to have a little something in the upstairs reserve to contribute and decided to do my work honestly so that i can become responsible in my endevours.

Campus was sometimes boring but finding out  perfect friends or ''campus brothers and sisters'' Would always ensure that i become very active in my daily lifestyle especially in the weekends

Campus life was always fun but Challenging in the aspect of  time maanagement considering Tum is a very diverse Institution of higher learning where many activities take place each day hence utilising my time appropriately was very important.
